The Malian Armed Forces have carried out a series of coordinated operations targeting armed groups in the Nioro and Kidal regions, resulting in the neutralization of several militants and the dismantling of logistical hubs.
The operations are part of a broader campaign to strengthen security in northern and western Mali, where groups linked to Jama’at Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin and the Islamic State in the Sahel remain active.
In the Nioro region, forces conducted a precision airstrike against a suspected militant refuge near the Mauritanian border, followed by ground deployment to secure the area and assess the impact.
The operation led to the seizure of transport and logistical equipment, including fuel tankers, vehicles, and motorcycles, which authorities said were used to support militant mobility and supply chains.
In Kidal, military forces intensified aerial surveillance, identifying and striking a group of militants north of the city, destroying their vehicles in a targeted airstrike.
The action is part of ongoing efforts to prevent militant regrouping near border areas following earlier territorial losses.
Elsewhere, military activity has increased, with expanded deployments along borders and heightened monitoring of key corridors amid ongoing security challenges.
Observers have also noted the potential humanitarian impact of intensified operations, particularly in areas facing supply constraints.
The military has called for civilian cooperation and intelligence sharing, emphasizing that sustained pressure on armed groups is essential to restoring stability.
