Senegal’s President Warns of Rising Security Threats at Borders

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye warned of growing and diverse security threats along the country’s borders, saying they are “multiple and unpredictable.”

Speaking to France 24 in New York, he stressed that instability in Mali and the wider region, driven by armed group attacks, affects all neighboring states.

Faye called for an integrated approach to counterterrorism, combining intelligence sharing and dialogue, while cautioning that Africa and the Sahel must not become a battlefield for global powers.
