Sudan’s Security and Defense Council, chaired by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has called for a nationwide general mobilization to back the Sudanese Armed Forces in their fight against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias.
The meeting reviewed the worsening security and humanitarian situation in the country and strongly condemned the atrocities committed by the RSF, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”, against civilians.
The Council also criticized the international community’s inaction, particularly its failure to enforce an arms embargo on the Darfur region.
This call for mobilization follows the RSF’s full takeover of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, marking a significant escalation in the devastating conflict that has gripped Sudan since April 2023.
