The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reported that 1,565 people have been newly displaced across North and South Kordofan in central Sudan, due to escalating insecurity in the region.
According to IOM data, 1,205 people fled Bara and Um Rawaba in North Kordofan on Saturday, relocating to other parts of the state and to several towns in White Nile State.
Meanwhile, an additional 360 people were displaced from Al-Abbasiya and Dallami in South Kordofan, moving to nearby locations and to the town of Tandali in White Nile State.
This new wave of displacement comes amid the ongoing armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has raged since April 2023, resulting in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions across the country.
