Local Sources Report Suicide Drone Attack on Anéfis Military Base in Northern Mali

Local sources in northern Mali reported that the military base at Anéfis, one of the main facilities used by the Malian Armed Forces and Russia’s Africa Corps, was targeted by a suicide drone attack.

According to sources close to the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), several drones penetrated the base perimeter and struck designated targets inside the facility. The extent of the damage and possible casualties remains unclear.

Videos circulated on social media accounts supportive of the FLA reportedly show explosions inside the camp filmed by a separate surveillance drone accompanying the operation.

Neither the Malian military nor Russia’s Africa Corps had issued an official statement regarding the reported attack at the time of publication.

The incident comes amid a growing use of armed and kamikaze drones by insurgent groups in northern Mali. Security reports indicate that the FLA has increasingly relied on drone warfare against Malian and Russian positions throughout 2026.
