The Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), an al-Qaeda-linked armed group operating in the Sahel, has announced substantial financial rewards for information leading to the location of senior Malian military officials, including transitional president General Assimi Goïta.
In a statement dated June 6, 2026, and attributed to the group, JNIM said it would pay a reward of €2 million for verified information that could help locate or “neutralize” Goïta.
The group also offered rewards of €1 million each for information concerning Colonel Lassina Diallo and General Malik Dikko, whom it described as key figures within Mali’s military leadership.
JNIM claimed the move was a response to what it called the military junta’s loss of legitimacy and the escalation of military operations across the country. The group further pledged confidentiality and protection for anyone providing information through its designated communication channels.
The statement comes amid escalating clashes between Malian government forces and their Russian allies on one side, and JNIM-led insurgent groups on the other, following a series of attacks and counter-operations across several regions of Mali in recent months.
Malian authorities have not yet publicly responded to the statement.
