Egypt hosts today the Russia–Africa Partnership Conference with participation from over 50 countries

The Egyptian capital, Cairo, is hosting today and tomorrow, December 19–20, the second ministerial conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, with ministerial-level participation from more than 50 African countries, alongside heads of several regional organizations.

According to a statement from Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conference aims to build on the progress achieved during the first ministerial meeting, held in Sochi, Russia, in November 2024.

Discussions will focus on strengthening economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as supporting issues related to peace, security, and stability across the African continent.

The agenda also includes a presentation by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, in addition to talks on trilateral cooperation between Russia, Egypt, and African states.

Ahead of the conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov published an article emphasizing that Russia does not view Africa merely as a source of raw materials, stressing that Moscow’s partnership with African countries seeks to develop local capacities through joint investment projects.
