Sudan: Doctors Without Borders Warns of Imminent Danger to Thousands Trapped in El-Fasher

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has issued a grave warning about the fate of thousands of civilians trapped in the city of El-Fasher, after Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took full control of what had been the Sudanese army’s last stronghold in Darfur.

The alert comes amid mounting reports of summary executions, sexual violence, and systematic looting. Survivors who managed to reach the nearby town of Tawila described mass killings and children shot dead in front of their families.

MSF said RSF fighters are blocking civilians from fleeing to safer areas. Only about 5,000 people have managed to escape to Tawila, while El-Fasher had a pre-war population of around 260,000 residents.

Eyewitnesses told MSF that roughly 500 civilians and soldiers tried to flee last Sunday, but most were killed or captured by RSF forces and allied militias, with survivors reportedly separated by gender, age, and ethnicity.
