French authorities have arrested two men suspected of involvement in the theft of historic jewelry worth an estimated €88 million from the Louvre Museum in Paris.
One suspect was detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport as he attempted to leave the country, while the second was arrested in the capital.
Both men face charges of organized gang theft and criminal association.
The heist, carried out last week by a four-member group, involved the theft of eight pieces from France’s royal crown jewels collection. Investigations are ongoing to locate the stolen items and apprehend the remaining suspects.
