Ivory Coast: Young Man Killed During Protests Against Ouattara’s Fourth-Term Bid

A 22-year-old man was shot dead during protests in the southern city of Bonoua, where demonstrators were rallying against President Alassane Ouattara’s bid for a fourth term in office.

The incident occurred amid heightened political tensions, just two weeks before the presidential election scheduled for October 25, following the Constitutional Council’s exclusion of several leading opposition candidates.

Ivorian police said an investigation has been launched into the shooting, while authorities pledged to ensure peaceful and transparent elections.
