Algeria’s Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday evening that army units had successfully killed six armed militants in the eastern border region of Tébessa.
In a statement, the ministry said the operation, carried out in the locality of Thlijane under the Tébessa military sector, also resulted in the seizure of six Kalashnikov rifles and large quantities of ammunition.
Deputy Minister of Defense and Army Chief of Staff Saïd Chengriha visited the site to oversee the aftermath of what the ministry described as a “high-quality operation”, highlighting the army’s ongoing determination to eliminate the remnants of terrorist groups.
The Algerian army frequently reports such operations, which often lead to the arrest or killing of militants still active since the country’s civil war between 1992 and 2002.
