In a bold and timely effort to counter radicalization and build sustainable peace in Nigeria’s northeast, the Kalthum Foundation of Peace (KFP)—in collaboration with the Network of Civil Society Organisations Borno State (NECSOB) and the Borno Youth Parliament—is hosting a One-Day Multi-Sectoral Stakeholders’ Engagement at Indimi Hall, University of Maiduguri.
With over 1,000 youth and student leaders from Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe expected in attendance, the forum will address the urgent challenge of violent extremism through dialogue, civic awareness, and the promotion of Counter-Insurgency (COIN) principles in community settings.

KFP: A Pillar of Peace and Progress
This event is more than a summit—it is a continuation of the Kalthum Foundation of Peace’s long-standing commitment to empowering Nigeria’s most vulnerable communities. Through initiatives in women empowerment, child protection, health, education, livelihoods, and WASH, KFP has become a cornerstone of social development in the region.
Under the visionary leadership of Ambassador Ummu Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu, the foundation’s Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) department has emerged as one of the most innovative platforms tackling radical ideologies in northern Nigeria. Programs like SISTERS Against Violence and Extremism (SAVE 2) and STUDENTS Against Violence and Extremism (SAVE 1) have equipped women and youth with tools to identify, resist, and respond to extremist narratives, both online and offline.
“At KFP, we believe that peace begins when individuals are empowered with knowledge, supported with opportunity, and included in the shaping of their society,” said Amb. Ummu Kalthum. “This event reflects our mission to turn youth into peace ambassadors—not tomorrow, but today.”
A Crucial Moment for Regional Stability
Taking place in Maiduguri—epicenter of both conflict and resilience—this forum seeks to foster a culture of inclusion, gender equity, religious tolerance, and moderate civic values, all while strengthening the critical links between peacebuilding and CVE.
As violent extremism continues to threaten development in West Africa, KFP’s approach has gained recognition for its deeply localized, multi-stakeholder methodology, providing long-term strategies rooted in the real needs of communities.
This youth summit marks a pivotal moment in reshaping the region’s future, turning the tides from fear to hope, and from division to unity.
