African Perceptions – Monitoring | Russian-language media have reported that the “Alla Ag Albachir” Katiba, affiliated with the Azawad Liberation Front (FLA), was behind a recent attack on a Malian military convoy along the Anefis–Aguelhok axis in northern Kidal.
The claim was circulated by the Telegram channel Departamente, a Russian-aligned platform known for covering Sahelian conflicts. The channel stated that the rebel unit used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to damage several military vehicles. It also shared images and videos allegedly showing the aftermath of the incident.
According to Departamente, the katiba is a newly formed unit composed mainly of young fighters, recently launched as part of a broader escalation in northern Mali.
Departamente is among a network of Russian-language outlets that increasingly cover the Malian conflict, often reflecting Moscow’s perspective and its growing military involvement in the region.
No official statements have been issued so far by Malian authorities or the FLA leadership regarding the attack or its perpetrators.
African Perceptions continues to verify the details and monitor international reporting on the incident.
