Maiduguri – African Perceptions
The United States Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA) has praised its military partnership with Nigeria’s Operation HADIN KAI, describing the cooperation as a model for effective security collaboration in the fight against insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
The remarks came during a visit by the Commander of SOCAFRICA, Major General Claude Tudor, to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East – Operation HADIN KAI at Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri on 25 June, as part of ongoing security cooperation between Nigeria and the United States.
Major General Tudor said the integration of U.S. Special Operations personnel into Operation HADIN KAI’s operational framework demonstrates the strength of the bilateral partnership, stressing that sustained cooperation, mutual trust and shared commitment remain essential to achieving lasting peace and restoring stability across northeastern Nigeria.
He also commended the Theatre Command’s efforts against terrorism and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting Nigeria through enhanced cooperation in military planning, operations and capacity building.
For his part, the Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, thanked the United States for its continued support, noting that cooperation with SOCAFRICA has significantly improved operational effectiveness through both kinetic and non-kinetic operations, while highlighting the importance of continued technological and capability support.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the Nigeria–United States security partnership, enhancing military capacity, countering terrorist networks and promoting long-term regional stability.
