Algeria and Angola have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the hydrocarbons sector and expanding collaboration across the oil and gas value chain.
The discussions took place during a virtual meeting between Algerian Minister of State for Energy, Mines and Renewable Energy Mohamed Arkab and Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas Diamantino Pedro Azevedo.
According to Algeria’s Ministry of Energy, the talks focused on opportunities for cooperation in exploration, production, resource optimization, refining, petrochemicals, and professional training through the Algerian Petroleum Institute and Sonatrach’s management academy.
The two sides also explored ways to deepen cooperation between Algeria’s state-owned energy company Sonatrach and Angolan energy institutions, emphasizing knowledge transfer, technical expertise, and industrial partnerships.
Both parties agreed to organize a working visit by Sonatrach experts to Angola in the coming months to identify concrete investment opportunities and develop mutually beneficial projects.
Arkab highlighted the growing momentum in Algerian-Angolan relations following Angolan President João Lourenço’s recent visit to Algeria, which resulted in the signing of eleven cooperation agreements.
Angola’s energy minister praised Algeria’s expertise in oil and gas development and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in exploration, production, energy transition, and human capacity building.
