Israeli military forces carried out a fresh ground incursion into Syria’s southern Quneitra province on Thursday morning, detaining four civilians, even as recent diplomatic talks in Paris signaled tentative efforts to de-escalate long-running tensions between the two sides.
According to Syria’s state news agency, SANA, and corroborated by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, an Israeli unit comprising five military vehicles entered the al-Kasarat junction area, a strategic crossroads linking the towns of Jbata al-Khashab and Ain al-Bayda in the southern Quneitra countryside. The troops reportedly established a temporary checkpoint, where they stopped civilian traffic, conducted identity checks, and searched vehicles.
