Wave of killings and looting reported during FaMa–Africa Corps patrol in northern Mali

A surge of violence hit several communities across the circles of Goundam, Gargando and Bintagoungou between 25 and 27 November 2025, leaving multiple civilians dead and markets destroyed, according to consistent local reports.

On 25 November, one person was killed in Emimalane and two others in Takara. The following day, Taroma recorded one civilian killed and a herder taken prisoner along with his livestock.

In Amarnane, four civilians were reportedly slaughtered and burned, while in Nijhaltate four others — two men, including a blind victim, and two women including a young girl — were killed, with their bodies still missing. Four women were injured, two of whom were hospitalized in Timbuktu.

The markets of Zouera and Razelma were vandalized, looted and burned, and tents, shelters, grazing areas and a water tower were destroyed in Akambou and Ingargouze.

On 27 November, livestock were killed or stolen in Ragalaajoul, and at least two civilians — including a Fulani herder — were reportedly taken prisoner.

Local sources linked the abuses to a joint patrol of the Malian Armed Forces (FaMa) and the Africa Corps, while no official statement has yet been issued by Bamako.
