The U.S. outlet Axios reported, citing officials, that President Donald Trump’s administration is preparing to announce the launch of the second phase of its Gaza peace plan before the end of the year.
According to the officials, Trump is expected to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the end of December to coordinate next steps.
Sources say the “Peace Council,” established by the U.S. administration and chaired directly by Trump, will oversee administrative and governance structures in the Gaza Strip as part of the plan.
In response, Hamas reiterated its commitment to existing agreements and urged international mediators to pressure Israel to halt its daily violations of the ceasefire and fulfill its obligations, particularly the full reopening of the Rafah crossing.
This comes as the war on the Gaza Strip continues, with more than 70,000 people killed, amid repeated accusations from international organizations that Israel is committing serious violations and war crimes.
