Sudanese Army Recaptures Strategic Town of Mabsout in South Kordofan

The Sudanese army has regained control of the town of Mabsout in South Kordofan State, following clashes with fighters from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), which is allied with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The advance is part of a series of military operations in Al-Abbasiya Tagali, a locality linking the northern and southern parts of the state and providing control over key strategic routes.

In a related development, the Sudanese army announced it had foiled an RSF attack on the town of Babnousa in neighboring West Kordofan, challenging ceasefire declarations from the opposing side.

There has been no immediate comment from SPLM-N leadership regarding the loss of Mabsout.
