Marrakech International Film Festival concludes its 22nd edition

The 22nd edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival has wrapped up after running from 28 November to 6 December in the Moroccan city.

This year’s festival screened 81 films from 30 countries, drawing an audience of more than 47,000 attendees.

Director Erige Sehiri won the festival’s top prize, the 2025 Golden Star, for her film The Promised Sky, which follows the story of an Ivorian journalist.

Actress Deborah Loba Nani received the Best Actress award, while actor Choup Deris won Best Actor.

During the awards ceremony at the Palais des Congrès, jury president and South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho praised the festival’s outstanding organisation.

The jury featured a distinguished lineup of international cinema figures, including Karim Aïnouz, Hakim Belabbes, Jenna Ortega and Anya Taylor-Joy.
