The Malian government has officially launched its first national cybersecurity strategy and its accompanying action plan for 2026–2030, during a cabinet meeting chaired by transitional president Colonel Assimi Goïta.
The strategy, prepared by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Economy and Administrative Modernization, aims to address a legislative gap that had forced stakeholders to operate in a fragmented manner in the face of growing cyber threats.
The plan is built around three core pillars:
- Strengthening national cybersecurity governance,
- Promoting cybersecurity awareness and culture,
- Protecting digital infrastructure and data from emerging risks.
These pillars are aligned with the government’s broader program to accelerate the digitalization of public services and administration.
The development comes amid heightened international discussion on cybersecurity cooperation. In October, a UN official noted the significant potential for partnership between Russia and African countries to develop shared technical and ethical solutions in the sector.
