Judicial authorities in Gabon have remanded former Minister of Tourism Pascal Ogowe Siffon to Libreville’s central prison, following a prolonged interrogation lasting more than 20 hours.
The former minister faces charges of embezzling public funds amounting to more than 10 billion CFA francs, earmarked for the support and development of the country’s tourism sector.
The case also involves 16 additional suspects, all former members of the minister’s team, as part of a broader investigation into the alleged mismanagement of tourism-related public finances.
This move forms part of a wider anti-corruption drive in Gabon, which in recent years has targeted several high-profile political figures.
