Russia’s Foreign Ministry announced that the second ministerial conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum will be held in Cairo on December 19–20.
The announcement followed a phone call between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty.
According to the ministry’s statement, the two ministers discussed preparations for the conference as well as ongoing bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on trade and economic issues.
They also exchanged views on key regional and international developments, including the situation in Ukraine and the escalating tensions in the Middle East, with a focus on Gaza, the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, and Syria.
The statement noted that Lavrov, at Egypt’s request, provided an assessment of the latest developments related to the Ukraine crisis.
The conference was originally scheduled for last November before being postponed. Its first edition took place in Sochi in November 2024.
