Burkina Faso’s military authorities announced that they forced a Nigerian C-130 military transport aircraft to make an emergency landing at Bobo-Dioulasso Airport and detained the 11 Nigerian soldiers on board.
According to a statement from the Sahel States Confederation (Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger), the aircraft entered Burkinabe airspace without prior authorization, an act it described as a “breach of national sovereignty” and a “violation of international law.”
The statement noted that the aircraft was flying on 8 December 2025, prompting authorities to compel the landing.
The crew and passengers — all military personnel — were immediately taken into custody and are now under investigation.
