Urgent Meeting of Foreign Ministers from Seven Muslim Countries in Istanbul to Discuss Gaza’s Future
Foreign ministers from seven Muslim-majority countries are meeting in Istanbul on Monday to discuss the future of the Gaza Strip following the recent ceasefire agreement.
The participating countries include Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
In a speech ahead of the meeting, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that Hamas remains committed to honoring the ceasefire terms, while criticizing Israel for failing to fully implement its obligations.
Erdoğan emphasized the urgent need to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza’s residents, followed immediately by reconstruction efforts, saying that Israel “is doing everything possible to obstruct them.”
He also called for the immediate implementation of the reconstruction plan prepared by the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), unveiled in March, expressing hope that the OIC will play a leading role in Gaza’s rebuilding and recovery process.
