The British government has threatened to impose visa bans on three African nations — Angola, Namibia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo — due to their insufficient cooperation in repatriating citizens residing illegally in the United Kingdom.
London has given these countries a one-month deadline to improve their level of cooperation, warning that the sanctions could affect tourist visas as well as those granted to high-profile individuals.
The government also announced plans to expand these measures to include other countries with high rates of asylum applications.
This move comes as part of a broader reform package aimed at reducing the number of irregular migrants, following an 18% increase in asylum claims this year.
