Several areas along the Syrian coast, as well as the cities of Homs and Hama, witnessed protest gatherings on Tuesday, in which members of the Alawite community demanded the release of their detained relatives, whom the Syrian government accuses of committing crimes and violations during the Assad regime’s rule.
An official from the Syrian Ministry of Information confirmed the deployment of internal security units in public squares across Latakia province and various coastal cities to ensure the protests proceed smoothly.
He noted that these demonstrations come in response to earlier protests that called for no leniency toward individuals implicated in crimes against the Syrian people.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry’s spokesperson stated that security forces worked to safeguard the protest gatherings and prevent any untoward incidents, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to upholding the right to free expression within the framework of the law and without disturbing civil peace.
