The General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) has announced temporary measures allocating six fuel stations in Bamako and Kati exclusively for military use, in an effort to mitigate the country’s severe fuel shortage.
Under the directive, soldiers are prohibited from refueling at civilian stations, with violations leading to equal treatment in public queues, as authorities seek to prioritize military logistics amid growing supply pressures.
The move follows the arrival of fuel convoys to Bamako in early October under armed escort, earmarked for public transport and areas most affected by the crisis.
Mali and neighboring Sahel countries are grappling with an intensifying fuel shortage, driven by persistent insecurity and the disruption of supply routes by armed groups that have destabilized the region for over a decade.
