Senior officials from the United States and Ukraine, along with national security advisers from France, the United Kingdom, and Germany, will meet in Geneva on Sunday to review the U.S. draft proposal aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
The talks will include U.S. envoy Steve Whitcoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said:
“We hope to finalize the remaining details of an agreement that serves Ukraine’s interests.”
The U.S. official added that no agreement will be formally approved until after a meeting between the American and Ukrainian presidents.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned that the plan risks making Ukraine lose its dignity and freedom, while Russian President Vladimir Putin described the U.S. proposal as a potential basis for resolving the conflict.
The meeting comes as European leaders seek to refine and strengthen the U.S. proposal, arguing that it requires “additional work” to secure a better outcome for Ukraine.
