Voters in Egypt began casting their ballots on Monday in the first phase of the parliamentary elections, which will take place over two days across 14 governorates.
Around 35 million eligible voters are participating in this phase, following the expat voting that took place last Friday and Saturday at Egyptian embassies and consulates in 117 countries worldwide.
The second phase of voting is scheduled for November 21–22 for Egyptians abroad, and November 24–25 inside the country, covering the remaining 13 governorates.
This election comes just months after the Senate elections held last August, which recorded a 17.1% voter turnout.
