The Gaza Strip witnessed a renewed military escalation as Israeli warships and tanks continued shelling the Rafah coast, while fresh airstrikes hit several areas in Gaza City and Khan Younis — marking a new breach of the ceasefire agreement.
According to medical sources in the enclave’s hospitals, at least 41 Palestinians, including 17 children, were killed and 50 others wounded in the Israeli strikes. Civil defense teams reported severe challenges in rescue operations amid ongoing bombardments.
In response, Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced a delay in the handover of an Israeli captive’s body, warning that Israeli violations were obstructing recovery efforts.
Turkey condemned the Israeli attacks, describing them as a “blatant violation” of the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Israeli media quoted a senior official saying the strikes aimed to “ensure the implementation of the ceasefire,” not to end it — amid reports of U.S. pressure on Israel to avoid excessive retaliation.
