Mauritania Secures Seat on UN Committee Against Torture

Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that its candidate, Judge Moulaye Abdallah Ould Moulaye Abdallah, has been elected to the United Nations Committee Against Torture for the 2026–2029 term.

The vote took place in Geneva, Switzerland, with the ministry describing the outcome as “the result of active diplomacy and a balanced foreign policy.”

The statement added that this achievement represents “the culmination of ongoing efforts” and comes as part of a series of recent diplomatic successes for the country.
