The Malian government has voiced its displeasure over a series of foreign embassy warnings urging their nationals to leave the country due to alleged security threats.
The statement came in response to recent travel advisories issued by the United States, Germany, and Italy.
In an official communiqué, Mali’s Foreign Ministry stressed that such communications should be made through official diplomatic channels, while reiterating its respect for the sovereign decisions of partner states.
The diplomatic tension coincides with a severe fuel shortage triggered by a blockade imposed by the militant group “Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin” (JNIM) on fuel imports.
As a result, the authorities have suspended classes nationwide for two weeks amid the worsening crisis.
