Mali’s armed forces announced a series of successful military operations that resulted in the killing of dozens of militants in the regions of Ménaka and Sikasso.
According to the statement, the operations began on October 8 in the Inarabani area, where an armed group was located and destroyed in an airstrike. Three additional air raids targeted villages in the Sikasso region.
The Malian army said the operations “neutralized dozens of terrorists,” completely destroyed their weapons, and repelled an attack on a checkpoint in the village of Zantiguila.
These actions form part of Mali’s ongoing campaign against armed groups, as the country and its neighbors continue to face a surge in extremist activity spanning more than a decade.
