Chad has reported 2,792 cholera cases and 157 deaths across several provinces, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Health.
Four regions — Guéra, Sila, Dae, and Goz Beida — remain active hotspots of transmission.
The announcement came during an emergency meeting of the national anti-epidemic committee, which discussed strengthening epidemic surveillance systems and establishing health checkpoints in the most affected areas.
The figures come amid a growing regional crisis. The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has reported 6,795 deaths and 294,244 infections across Africa since the start of 2025, with the fatality rate rising to 2.3%, up from 1.8% last year.
