Tunisian security forces have foiled a major international drug smuggling operation at La Goulette seaport, seizing a massive haul that included 370,000 ecstasy pills and 12 kilograms of cocaine.
The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of the public prosecutor and involved close coordination between the National Guard’s Central Anti-Narcotics Unit and the General Directorate of Customs.
The drugs were found hidden inside a car arriving from a European country aboard a ferry operated by the Tunisian Navigation Company.
In addition, authorities seized 550,000 Tunisian dinars (about USD 181,000), 13 vehicles and motorcycles, and arrested 14 suspects linked to the operation.
This achievement highlights Tunisia’s ongoing efforts to combat organized crime and drug trafficking across the region.
