Thousands of Tunisians gathered on the beach of Sidi Bou Said, near Tunis, in a massive show of solidarity with the “Flotilla of Resilience” bound for Gaza. The flotilla brings together dozens of boats carrying humanitarian aid and international activists aiming to break the Israeli blockade.
The convoy, made up of nearly 70 vessels and hundreds of activists from 44 countries, has attracted support from prominent global figures.
Originally scheduled to depart on Wednesday, the sailing was postponed due to bad weather and logistical concerns, after two boats were reportedly attacked by drones over the past two nights.
Organizers insisted they would press ahead despite the challenges, stressing that “these difficulties are nothing compared to what our brothers and sisters in Gaza endure.”
Israel has maintained a strict blockade on Gaza since 2007, a policy increasingly condemned by the international community for what are described as severe human rights violations.
