The Republic of Sudan has officially inaugurated its embassy in Bamako, the capital of Mali, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mali’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the event on social media, stating that on September 18, Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop received Sudan’s new ambassador, Khalid Abdelkader Shukri, and accepted copies of his credentials.
Following the inauguration ceremony, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to advancing South-South collaboration.
Talks also addressed regional security issues, the role of the Alliance of Sahel States, and the importance of countering external interference.
Minister Diop and Ambassador Shukri further expressed their determination to expedite the convening of the first session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, in line with the agreement signed during the Sudanese President’s visit to Bamako in January 2025.
