The Nigerian army announced on Thursday that it carried out two separate operations in Borno State, northeast Nigeria, killing dozens of Boko Haram fighters.
The first operation was an airstrike targeting a militant hideout in the Sambisa Forest, which killed more than 15 insurgents and destroyed key facilities.
The second was a ground operation to repel an ambush on a military convoy escorting humanitarian aid trucks, resulting in the deaths of 13 more fighters.
These operations are part of an intensified military campaign against a 16-year insurgency that has caused a major humanitarian crisis and displaced millions of people.
