Niger’s Defense Ministry has unveiled a newly acquired Aksungur combat drone from Turkey, valued at 12 billion CFA francs.
Weighing three tons, the drone can carry up to 750 kg of munitions and remain airborne for 40 hours, making it suitable for both surveillance and strike missions.
The presentation took place during Defense Minister General Salifou Modi’s visit to Air Base 101, as part of a review of recent military operations across eight regions.
With this move, Niger joins Mali and Burkina Faso in strengthening its arsenal with Turkish drones, as the transitional military council presses ahead with efforts to modernize the armed forces against mounting insurgent attacks.
