Ghana announced a major diplomatic achievement as the United States lifted visa restrictions on its citizens, signaling improved bilateral relations.
Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed that Ghanaians are once again eligible for multiple-entry visas valid for five years, following months of intense diplomatic negotiations.
The announcement came after a meeting between the Ghanaian minister and U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker, held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The U.S. had imposed restrictions last July, limiting Ghanaians to single-entry visas due to high rates of overstays. The reversal is seen as a clear indicator of warming ties between the two nations.
