Colonel Assimi Goïta, transitional president of Mali and head of the Sahel States Alliance, met on Thursday in Bamako with Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.
The visit, which began on August 20, focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the regional alliance. After the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed optimism, noting that President Goïta’s guidance would serve as the foundation for joint governmental action.
Ouédraogo also attended celebrations marking the second anniversary of the “Malian Civilian Brigades” and held several meetings with Malian officials.
In parallel, military officers from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger convened in Niamey to discuss steps toward unifying the armed forces of the three countries.
