Security and military sources in Nigeria have announced the killing of seven Boko Haram militants during a well-executed ambush by the Nigerian Army’s “Hadin Kai” operation forces on the Mayanti road near Dar Al-Jamal area in Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.
The sources confirmed that the operation resulted in the recovery of motorcycles and logistical equipment from the militants, who have been active since 2009 and are affiliated with an Al-Qaeda-linked group.
In retaliation, the militants launched a revenge attack on Dar Al-Jamal village with indiscriminate gunfire, but joint forces comprising the army, civil task forces, and local hunters repelled the attack, forcing the assailants to flee.
There remains a critical need to strengthen the protection of resettled villages from attacks by armed groups.
