New Partnership: Niger and Chad Agree to Boost Security and Economic Cooperation

Niger and Chad have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the areas of security, economy, and trade during Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby’s visit to Niamey, the capital of Niger.

In a joint statement, both countries reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying security coordination to combat terrorism, praising the successes of their joint military efforts in the Lake Chad region.

On the economic front, the two sides agreed to increase trade volume and facilitate fuel supply, paving the way for future projects such as the Niger–Chad pipeline.

They also discussed enhancing cooperation in infrastructure and information and communication technology to serve the interests of both nations and contribute to development and stability in the region.
