Burkina Faso and Oman discuss boosting economic and investment cooperation

Burkina Faso’s transitional president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, met in Ouagadougou with Abdessalam bin Mohammed Al-Murshidi, president of Oman’s Investment Authority, who led a high-level delegation to the country. The talks focused on ways to strengthen bilateral economic and investment cooperation.

Discussions highlighted investment opportunities in Burkina Faso, particularly in the mining and agriculture sectors.

Following the meeting, Al-Murshidi stated that both sides would move forward with signing bilateral agreements, expressing hope for an increase in trade volume. He added that Oman aims to invest in strategic sectors in Burkina Faso to advance mutual interests.

For his part, Traoré praised the bilateral relationship, stressing Burkina Faso’s openness to international partnerships that respect national sovereignty and ensure mutual benefit.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to expand economic cooperation between the two nations, in line with their leaders’ aspirations to diversify partnerships and boost development despite the economic and security challenges facing the Sahel region.
