Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned of possible new strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities “if necessary,” responding to remarks made by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump reacted to Zarif’s interview with Fox News, in which the Iranian diplomat asserted that Tehran would not abandon uranium enrichment, despite the U.S. airstrikes carried out in June.
Zarif maintained that Iran’s nuclear program was “indestructible,” while expressing readiness for indirect diplomatic talks with Washington.
Trump, however, insisted that the U.S. strikes had “completely destroyed” Iranian nuclear sites—an assertion disputed by American intelligence assessments, which suggest the attacks merely delayed the program by a few months.
The exchange reflects growing tensions between the two countries over Iran’s nuclear file, and renewed debate over the actual impact of U.S. military actions.
