Former U.S. President Donald Trump has sharply criticized his former adviser Elon Musk over the latter’s plans to launch a new political party in the United States.
Posting on his platform Truth Social, Trump declared that third parties only lead to “complete and total chaos,” arguing that they divide votes instead of boosting chances of electoral success.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Trump also dismissed Musk’s idea, while praising the “tremendous success” of the Republican Party.
On Saturday, Elon Musk announced via his platform X (formerly Twitter) his intention to form a new political entity called America’s Party. The announcement came just one day after he conducted a poll asking users whether he should establish a third party to rival Democrats and Republicans.
Details regarding any official steps Musk has taken to register the new party remain unclear, leaving room for speculation about the seriousness of the initiative and its potential impact on the U.S. political landscape — especially at a time when growing polarization has fueled debates about the need for alternatives to the two dominant parties.
