The General Staff of the Malian Armed Forces announced the killing of 70 armed militants during a series of airstrikes conducted between July 15 and 19, in coordination with forces from Niger and Burkina Faso.
According to the official statement, the airstrikes targeted militant gatherings and logistical bases in the regions of Ménaka, Ségou, and Timbuktu, including the elimination of 40 fighters in the Andéramboukane area and the destruction of two vehicles carrying militants.
Meanwhile, the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) claimed responsibility for a Grad rocket attack on the Gao military airport, alleging casualties and material losses for the Malian army. The group also claimed to have detonated a landmine targeting a military vehicle in the Kidal region.
Northern and central Mali remain tense, with several areas witnessing coordinated attacks earlier in July, which prompted the army to report the killing of 80 militants in retaliation.
