Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon Leaves One Dead and Four Injured

One person was killed and four others injured following Israeli airstrikes targeting two separate vehicles in southern Lebanon.

According to a statement from Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health, an Israeli army drone struck a vehicle in the Saf al-Hawa area of Bint Jbeil, resulting in one fatality and two injuries in an initial toll.

A second drone targeted another vehicle in the town of Shaqra, leaving two individuals seriously wounded.

The attack comes amid ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement that took effect on November 27. The deal stipulated a full Israeli withdrawal from border villages within 60 days. However, Israel remains stationed at five key points in southern Lebanon and continues daily violations, according to local and international reports.

The Lebanese army accused Israel of “escalating its breaches and violating Lebanese sovereignty,” and confirmed it had reinforced troop deployment in affected areas in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Media sources reported that Israeli forces are continuing aerial targeting and sweep operations, causing civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in southern villages.

The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States and France, also required Hezbollah to withdraw north of the Litani River. Yet the full implementation remains contested, with both sides accusing each other of obstructing the deal.
