Gaza on the Brink of Famine: UNRWA Says Three Months’ Worth of Food Stuck in Warehouses

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned that it holds enough food supplies to sustain Gaza’s population for over three months, but the aid remains stuck in warehouses due to a lack of entry clearance.

The agency said the stockpiles, including those stored in El-Arish, Egypt, are ready for immediate distribution. It urged the opening of crossings and lifting of the blockade to meet critical humanitarian needs, especially for over one million children.

Meanwhile, Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported an alarming surge in emergency room visits by malnourished civilians, including children and the elderly, many of whom are at imminent risk of starvation.

The Palestinian NGO Network described the situation as the worst stage of the humanitarian catastrophe to date, blaming Israeli policies for deliberate starvation and highlighting the complete absence of flour in the besieged territory.
